DO NOT GIVE UP! 2 Corinthians 1:8-11

One day I decided to give up.   My job, my relationships, my faith and my whole life. I went for the last time into the forest to speak with God.
“God.” I asked, “Can you give me one good reason, why I should not give up?”
His answer surprises me when He said: “Turn around. Do you see the Fern and the Bamboo?”
“Yes” I answered.
“After I sow the Fern and the Bamboo, I took very good care of them. I gave them light and water. The fern grew up very quickly.  His shining green covered the ground.  But the bamboo didn’t show up.  But I gave not up on the bamboo,” God continued, “In the second year the fern began to shine even more.  Still the bamboo didn’t show up.  But I gave not up,” He said.  “Also in the third and fourth year the bamboo didn’t show up.  In the fifth year a little shoot come out of the soil.  Compared to the fern the bamboo was small and insignificant.  However, already six months later the bamboo has grown 114 feet high.  It needed the past five years to let its roots grow.  These roots made it strong and gave it what it needed for its survival.
I would not give any of my creatures a challenge that he cannot manage. Then God asked me: “Do you know, my child, that during the times of struggle, you were producing roots. I gave not up on the bamboo. Now for you, I will never abandon you nor give up on you.  Do not compare yourself with others,” He said. The bamboo has another goal like the fern.  Right now through both of them the forest is beautiful.  Your time will come.”  God said to me, “You will grow high.”
“How high shall I grow,” I asked?
“How high will the bamboo grow?”  He replied
“As high as it can” I asked?
“Yes,”  God answered.  “Give unto Me the honour, while you grow as high as you can.”
I left the forest and brought this story with me.  I hope these words will help you to see, that God will never abandon you. Never, never, never abandon you! The prayer of a Christian is not a choice, but an opportunity. Don’t tell the Lord how big the problem is. Tell the problem how big the Lord is.
